Our Lithuanian project partner, the Kaunas University of Technology and the distributors of electronics association “EEPA” are organizing the National Olympiad of Environment Protection for secondary schools kids in Lithuania. This year the Olympiad is organized using the national Lithuanian Up2U infrastructure. A dedicated virtual learning environment was deployed on national Up2U infrastructure, where more than 60 schools have already signed up. 120 schools have registered to participate in this Olympiad. In order to prepare for the Olympiad self-evaluating online course was provided with the learning resources on the subject environment protection. 1400 students participated in the Olympiad on the 20th of November and filled in a Moodle knowledge assessment quiz provided by the organizers. This was a great proof of scalability of national Up2U infrastructure and can be considered as a showcase that the system is capable of handling big numbers of simultaneous users.
