OpenUp2U

openUp2U is closing on 14 April 2021

The clock is ticking for the openUp2U platform!

The service was intended to support secondary schools and academic communities to develop and enhance their teaching and learning skills to university standards throughout a very challenging 2020.

After being extended for three more additional months, openUp2U will be shut down after 14 April 2021

The platform has contributed to empowering teachers and students developing skills that are key in the 21st century’s educational environment. If you have used the service, please ensure you download all the information and documents you find valuable by 14 April 2021. Your data kept in openUp2U services will not be accessible afterwards and will be irretrievably erased.

We invite you to continue your journey with Up2U by using the regular Up2U service (so-called ‘central instance’), available at https://up2university.eu/up2universe/.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us at contact@lists.up2university.eu

openUp2U

The open version Up2U learning environment is available to all educational institutions and schools in Europe in order to enhance online learning in these extreme times.

About openUp2U

In an effort to support continued learning during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Up2U project has developed openUp2U which will be available to all schools and universities across Europe from 25 March 2020. openUp2U has been developed with the support of Up2U project partners including GÉANT, NORDUnet, CERN, ownCloud, PSNC, KIFU, NTUA, GRNET and MIUN.
Let’s make sure that COVID-19 will not lead to an educational shutdown!

Open-source, interoperable, GDPR compliant

openUp2U is a trimmed version of our Next Generation Digital Learning Environment learn.up2univerisity.eu, offered on a best effort basis. The platform will consist of the following tools:

  • Moodle – a course management system based on a free open-source software package designed to help educators create effective online courses.
  • eduMEET – an open-source web-based video-conferencing platform developed in the GÉANT (GN4-3) Project, that provides a self-hosted, secure and trustworthy environment for distance learning. eduMEET is currently in Beta stage.
  • SWAN – a turn-key platform to produce digital notebooks to be created in a simple web interface – with text, code, pictures and video – that can be stored in CERNBox.
  • CERNBox powered by EOS and ownCloud – the Sync and Share storage solution for Science, that allows students and teachers to work and collaborate anytime and anywhere from their mobile devices.
